My story

My name is Kaylie Jonkers, and I am a dog behaviorist/ dog trainer.

I established the company 'Kwispelend Geluk' out of my passion as a behavior specialist to assist dogs and their owners.

The translation of Kwispelend Geluk in English is 'Wagging Happiness'.

Once I had my own dogs, Nova and Lotus, I noticed that they communicated and acted differently. So I quickly realized that it was was much more complicated to understand the  dog language than I thought. Since I want them to have they best dog life possible,  I realized I can only achieve that by truly understanding them!

But why is understanding the language of dogs so important? Often, dog signals are misinterpreted, leading to miscommunication.

During walks, I frequently encounter people who don't understand their dogs. Frustration is visible by the owner, while the dog has already giving various (communication) signals. It is unpleasant for both parties when they feel they are not understood.

After 1,5 years training at Kynologenclub de Kempen Geldrop, I started to delve further into various methods of understanding dog language and tackling problem behavior. I have studied several theories including  the methods of Turid Rugaas, Martin Gaus, Ceasar Millan, Anniek Winters, Nadieh Cuijten and Adam Spivey. Yes, because every theory/ method contains useful information, so it is not black and white! Eventually one method suits better to an owner/ dog , and the other method suits the other better. This means I can always provide tailor-made advice.

In order to apply my knowledge more in practice, I chose to follow the dog behavior and training part 1, 2 and 3 at AWA Academy. There I learned a lot about dog language, how body language and energy affect dogs, but also how you can learn to understand your dog better and tackle behavioral issues.

With my knowledge and experience, I can help you restore the connection and break patterns. I always say: 'There are no bad dogs, only bad owners.' So, we not only address dog psychology but also the owner's awareness and behavior.

Is your dog exhibiting behavioral issues, or do you need a nudge in the right direction?

Then I'm able to help you with that!
